Evenings are getting longer, so there is more time for reading. Therefore we would like to invite you to this year’s penultimate editions of Second Life of a Book which will take place this Sunday (October 25th). This time we have prepared something especially for the fans of Stanisław Lem’s prose. Along with Wydawnictwo Literackie and the Znaczy Się Foundation, we will celebrate the 61st anniversary of the publication of Stanisław Lem’s novel The Astronauts (which was released on the 23rd of November 1951). The programme includes: competitions with great prizes – of course in the form of books – and for the youngest participants – Hocki klocki space building blocks with which we will construct a spaceship and workshops run by a book illustrator, Ola Cieślak, during which we will design a rocket and play the role of a robot or an alien. We start at 3 p.m. sharp, as usual at Wyspiański Pavilion (pl. Wszystkich Świętych 2). You are most welcome!
Hocki are cardboard building blocks great for playing at home and outdoors. They were designed so that no ready-made solutions are suggested and the child’s imagination remains uninhibited by excessive stimuli. Although they are based on a simple design, they are not an obvious toy and they require intellectual involvement. They encourage team play and teach cooperation.
