What books are worth reading to children? What do books taste like? When does the Fairy-Tale Characters Rally take place? Where can you find the scattered letters from Julian Tuwim’s ABCs? And is Tuwim’s Locomotive still running? The answers to these and other questions can be found at the Children’s Book Fair. The event takes place between the 7th and the 9th of June at the Fair hall in Krakow (ul. Centralna 41a). Traditionally, there will be a book swap stand – look for stand number 43 marked with the well-known logo of the Second Life of a Book campaign! Since the event takes place just after the Children’s Day, we will be swapping children’s books!
There are more attractions planned for that weekend: between the 7th and the 9th of June, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., a book swap (not only of children’s books) will be taking place at the Galeria Krakowska (ul. Pawia 5). All reading lovers are welcome!
The 3rd Children’s Book Fair is one of the major events of this type in Poland. You can buy books for children of various age, meet authors and illustrators, and take part in games inspired by literature and dedicated to visitors of all ages every day (between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.). This year, when entering, school and kindergarten groups will be invited to form the fair’s longest locomotive, while the adults will receive a Treasure Map allowing them to look with their kids for the lost letters from The ABCs poem. Master Gutenberg’s apprentices will reveal the secrets of print, enabling the visitors to prepare a non-standard proof copy using a traditional press. We will show both the small bookworms and those that are a little reluctant to reach for books that books are delicious, encouraging them to… munch on them. Doubters that say dragons don’t exist will be proved wrong – we are going to demonstrate that these creatures are real. Everyone that has not met their favourite heroes will have an opportunity to do so, as on the third day of the Fair, a rally of fairy-tales characters will take place at the TwK Hall. PLEASE NOTE: Admission to the Fair is free of charge!
